MPV: FM8 Tutorial
One of my favorite plugins out there is the FM8 by Native Instruments, and what better way to spend your sunday afternoon than to watch some cool tutorials on how to work with this beast!
Mac Pro Video is a great site for video tutorials on all kinds of music, video and other creative software on a mac. David Earl aka SFLogicNinja made this cool series about the FM8, and it has some good solid...

Plugin Tip : Xils-Lab : Chorx
Just before I started mixing my album - which is coming along nicely - I went on the lookout for some cool plugins to use, to give me some fresh tools to experiment with.
I’ve been using Xils-Lab products for some time now and they just released a new effect, its a cool chorus called “Chorx” that also has the option to place your sounds in the depth field, really cool for...

Album update
It’s been a while since I gave you all some updates on the new album, it’s nearly done! Today I finished the boring exporting process. You see, I write the album in Ableton Live, it’s easy and fast to work with synths and record audio, I really like it for that. But for mixing I tend to turn back to the traditional style of music program.
I was thinking about ProTools to mix...

Check out this great tumblr post from the composer of the Mass Effect 3 soundtrack, and the usage of vintage synths, orchestra’s and cutting edge instruments to create it! Can’t wait for the game and I’m very happy to have pre-ordered the collectors edition that will include the soundtrack!

Little Drummer Boy
Just came home from the studio, really had a blast today with my dad’s old electronic drum kit ( Roland TD-7 ) and Native Instruments 70’s Drummer. Hooked it up via midi and banged a track or two for my coming album, really fun to do, and it sounds amazing!
One of the new tracks I’m working on features some heavy driving tom tom rhythms and doing the whole take live really...

Diligu: A new 2.0 music blogging service
Yesterday I was made aware of this new startup in “online 2.0 social music”-land, and it’s pretty nifty and fun :) It’s called Diligu, and it’s a fun way to share your ‘track of the day’ so to speak with other people. Here’s how it works, you create a profile and enter a track, the service then finds any links to the song on Youtube, Soundcloud or...

Tabletop, a modular electronic studio on your iPad
I just came across this great new app for the iPad, it’s called Tabletop and it’s from the people at Retronyms, they are the same guys that brought ReBirth to the iPad.
Basically it’s a modular setup, you hook up modules to a mixer and some effects and get a groove going, really easy and it makes good use of the touch interface.
It includes some very nice modules, a drum...
letronique asked: So, i've always wanted to produce music and the only talent I have is having a good ear for beats and good tunes... In terms of software, where do I start? Any advice? By the way, Enceladus is fantastic!

Manual Movement Podcast →
I’ve been working all weekend to get the Manual Movement podcast back online. I had some crazy errors when uploading the files but eventually I made it happen using a great new piece of podcasting software from the App Store : Feeder.
For those of you that don’t know the Manual Movement show, it’s a radio show I’m hosting with Paul Hazendonk ( Manual Music ) and...
