Beatsurfing || Just came across this site, looks like an incredibly versatile MIDI controller for the iPad, you can create your own shapes and the idea is that you ‘surf’ your finger around the screen to create complex midi sequences. I’m going to use it for some elaborate keyboard with weird key scaling, will let you know how it goes!

I’ve been using the Lemur touch controller for a few years now in my live sets, even before the iPad. Unfortunately the development on the Lemur hardware has stopped, but now everyone with an iPad can enjoy the worlds best midi touchscreen controller, because Lemur is now available for iOS. Check it out!
Tabletop, a modular electronic studio on your iPad
I just came across this great new app for the iPad, it’s called Tabletop and it’s from the people at Retronyms, they are the same guys that brought ReBirth to the iPad.

Basically it’s a modular setup, you hook up modules to a mixer and some effects and get a groove going, really easy and it makes good use of the touch interface.
It includes some very nice modules, a drum sample player, polyphonic keyboards and a very easy to use tone matrix thingy that tunes to a specific key and scale so you can make great sounding melody’s instantly.
I’ve been toying with it this afternoon and feel like this really is a new instrument in my arsenal. Just hook it up to your DAW and record the sounds you made with Tabletop in Ableton Live of Logic for some further processing and a new song is born :)
It’s for sale right now for €3.99 and includes most of the modules, additional effects and instruments can be bought via in-app purchase.
